WWE Superstars Results and Review

August 26, 2016

We Write Wrestling – @WeWriteWrestlin

Easily lost in the maelstrom that has been the last 7 days of Professional Wrestling world-wide, this week’s episode of Superstars is low-key but solid affair. Sometimes Superstars is the Bermuda Triangle of the WWE. Escape is as possible as permanent residence. Ring that bell, ref!

Jack Swagger vs. Jinder Mahal

A repeat of a match from two weeks ago, it is worth wondering where the turning point will be for either Jinder Mahal or Jack Swagger? The match is briskly paced and both wrestlers are exceptionally capable, especially Mahal who is shockingly fast for someone that big. Swagger also sets in a deep and painful looking Patriot Lock with much vigor.

What the future holds for wrestlers on this tier is up grabs. Hopefully the wave of truly interesting content will wash over Superstars because even the lowliest of shows can be compelling and meaningful with the right consideration.

Winner: Jack Swagger (via submission following a Patriot Lock)

The Golden Truth vs. Bo Dallas & Curtis Axel

There are many valid criticisms to aim at the WWE. One of the most common critiques revolves around perceived misuse of talent. For example Bo Dallas is a former NXT Champion just like Seth Rollins, Big E, Finn Balor, Kevin Owens etc. One will not observe these competitors on Superstars aside from recaps. What is the disconnect? Wrestlers like Axel and Dallas  are surely capable of quite a bit more than they are allowed to show. As third generation pro wrestlers, their pedigree must place them on another level. Rather than using Dallas and Axel to put other teams over, they have the potential to be legitimate and compelling tag team champions.

The match itself is good…R-Truth and Goldust are master craftsmen. Their personal gimmicks and team gimmick mask how gifted both wrestlers are. What you get from them is more than what one sees. On the whole, the use of the lower card of Raw is perplexing.

Winners: The Golden Truth (via pinfall following Solid Gold)
