WWE Superstars – Results and Review (August 13, 2016)

Two solid matches! Let’s get in the ring!

Jack Swagger vs. Jinder Mahal

Superstars could never be accused of having state of the art wrestling, historically or currently. New Japan and Kenny Omega have turned the Professional Wrestling world on its ear. Thankfully for Swagger and Mahal, a rising tide lifts all boats. The returning Jinder Mahal brings a substantial talent to WWE. His foreboding bearing and incredible ring work showcase why his founding role in NXT shouldn’t be overlooked, especially in light of the recent debuts of some of Full Sail’s finest. He and Swagger put on one of the better matches I’ve on this program (and the WWE in general) lately. Recommended match!

Winner: Jack Swagger (via submission following the Patriot Lock)

Sami Zayn vs. Curtis Axel

Ideally the push for Sami Zayn to get a belt of some sort on Raw will begin soon. Despite his injurious shoulder, Zayn has everything it takes to carry a title reign in the WWE. His time as NXT champion was short but as a champion, Sami Zayn is capable of greatness. He is only an underdog to a point, after which his superior skill far exceed his competition.

Meanwhile, what to make of Curtis Axel? He is Monday Night Raw’s Mr. Irrelevant, but he is so good at Professional Wrestling that he makes all his work invisible. The fact that he was not carted out of the arena in a hearse after taking the stiffest Helluva Kick I’ve ever seen, is a testament to Axel’s skills. What you don’t see is what you get, and thank goodness. Recommended match!

Winner: Sami Zayn (via pinfall following a Helluva Kick)
