WWE NXT (July 13) – Results and Review

Video package for tonight’s Main Event between Nakamura and Balor.

NXT opens to a lively crowd at Full Sail University with Tom Philips and Corey Graves on commentary. Samoa Joe’s music hits and out comes the current NXT champion. Joe says he’s out here for a few reasons. First and foremost he’s out here to witness Nakamura vs. Balor match. He says the amplifications of that match are a direct insult to him as a champion. He says the fans think Balor will win the match and will avenge his loss against Joe and reclaim the NXT title. They also think that Nakamura will win the match and later would go on to capture the NXT title but that won’t happen either. Joe says he’s the one who brought the strong style first to NXT. He says he’s the man around here and the new face of NXT.  Joe gets interrupted by Rhyno. Rhyno says if Joe’s the man that he has to go through to get to the NXT Championship, then he’ll go right through him. Joe leaves the ring and says that’s it not his time.

Nice promo from Joe. Not only he hyped the match but also made it clear that neither of the two guys deserve the title shot at his championship and that he’s the man around here. Interesting to see Rhyno’s involvement in the situation.

So next week it’s Bayley vs. Nia Jax; Thrice in a Lifetime.

Also the American Alpha vs. the Authors of Pain and the NXT Champion Joe vs. Rhyno.

Winner: Shinsuke Nakamura.

The match was every bit as amazing as everybody hoped it would be. These two outstanding performer put on one hell of a match tonight. No chair shots, tables or anything involved. The match had everything it needed. The intensity, the aggression, and the enthusiasm. Top notch wrestling performance from both men who put everything into the match and delivered an awesome match to witness. Balor targeting the knee of Nakamura and Nakamura’s fight to somehow keep Balor down was interesting storytelling. A nice back and forth martch with both stars getting their time to shine. Although I did find Nakamura not selling his leg injury quite weird but that’s ok. The crowd was just going bonkers for the match since the beginning. If someone is to say that this was Balor’s best NXT match so far, I won’t argue.

Lots of things in store for next week. The Authors of Pain going up against The American Alpha and bayley facing Nia Jax. Also The NXT Champion Samoa Joe going one on one against Rhyno. It will be interesting to see how well Joe digests Nakamura’s win? What is next for Balor? hope we find out that soon.
