WWE Superstars (June 24) – Results and Review

WWE Superstars (June 24)

Filmed June 20, 2016 at Talking Stick Resort Arena, Phoenix, AZ.

The Golden Truth vs. The Ascension

With all the very pointed conversations about The Brand Split, many questions remain unanswered and many potential questions are unasked. Down the roster from the epic AJ/Cena and Ambrose/Rollins feuds, a minor (depending on one’s point of view) triumph occurs when Konnor tags in for the first time in months. He drops Goldust and suddenly The Ascension have returned. Viktor has been the rabid attack dog of Superstars for several weeks, even donning redesigned face paint. Perhaps with the progress of both RAW and Smackdown, The Ascension will reclaim the dominance they wielded in NXT.

Veterans Goldust and R-Truth get the win over the former NXT Tag Champions, which probably will not sit well with some people. Some people are never satisfied with anything. As competitors at the highest level, Konnor and Viktor (and Golden Truth for that matter) are in it to play the long game. We should appreciate what we have when we have it because Professional Wrestling (like most mediums of Art) is a brutal business with the only guarantee being pain.

Lucha Dragons vs. Dudley Boyz

In this redo of their Money In The Bank match, Lucha Dragons and the Dudleys put on a good fight but there seems to be little oomph from the crowd. Bubba Ray is one of several misplaced wrestlers in the company right now. His ring acumen and his delivery on the mic should see him atop the roster with fellow former TNA World Champion AJ Styles.

Perhaps the Brand Split will enliven both the Dudleys and the Dragons in the minds of fans. There might be the possibility of splitting up teams that aren’t exactly working. In either case, the future is uncertain but anything is possible within the squared circle.
