WWE WrestleMania 32 – Preview and Predictions

It’s the show of shows. It’s so big that it not only has its own weekend, but it’s own week, it’s WrestleMania! This year coming from the AT&T Stadium in Dallas, WWE hopes to break the WrestleMania 3 attendance record. With that in mind, they came up with this match card, what do we think about it? It’s We Write Wrestling’s preview and predictions for WWE WrestleMania 32!

WWE WrestleMania 32

April 3, 2016

AT&T Stadium – Dallas, TX

The WrestleMania 32 Preview Panel

Dylan Osborn: He covers independent promotions in the United Kingdom, mainly PROGRESS.

Tacc Brown: Our list expert.

Noah Hugh: He covers various Japanese promotions that aren’t New Japan Pro Wrestling.

Richard Harris: Columnist here at We Write Wrestling.

Ryan Davis: I couldn’t take part in this one, if you want my preview and predictions for the show, I’m currently doing an article series on the website titled “We Book Wrestling: WWE WrestleMania 32” that is filled with my thoughts, predictions and more.

3rd annual André the Giant Memorial Battle Royal

Dylan Osborn: While the first Andre The Giant battle royal had a great moment in Cesaro eliminating Big Show, last years was quite lackluster and was basically there to give jobbers and people not on the main card something to do. I fear this years will be much if the same, I can’t honestly predict who will win. I’m going to say Big Show, and have it be the start of his final big run of the company, be the first 2 time winner, maybe win one more title and drop it to a younger talent, and then disappear. Outside of that, I can’t really predict anyone else.

Prediction: Big Show

Tacc Brown: Although it made for a decent wrestlemania moment last year with Sandow and Big Show I don’t expect much from this other than getting everyone a spot on the card which I have no problem with, everyone deserves a payday. I don’t know why but I think we might get a shock in this one. Call me crazy, call me insane but I think one of the Social Outcasts is going to win it!

Prediction: Heath Slater

Prediction: Curtis Axel

Richard Harris: Everyone knows this match usually just consist of jobbers or lower card guys so I don’t expect much from this match. If anything since the roster is so depleted it gives me less of a reason to care. But in terms of lower card guys the ones that have gotten the most time is the Social Outcasts so I think the leader may take this one.

Prediction: Heath Slater

The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso) vs. The Dudley Boyz (Bubba Ray and D-Von Dudley)

Dylan Osborn: I haven’t really been gripped by the build for this match, don’t get me wrong, I like both teams, and they have great in ring chemistry. But The Usos aren’t really compelling on the mic, and The Dudleys have had a weird shift in gimmick since their heel turn. I guess it’s the heel tactic of, don’t give the fans what they want in terms of tables, having The Usos use them instead to get them over. The match will be good, maybe even great if given enough time, I’m they didn’t do an obvious tables match stipulation and we’ll get to see a straight u[p tag team match. Also impressive that there’s a tag team rivalry that isn’t about the tag team titles, seeing as it’s usually rival over titles or you just kind of float around in the division. I think The Dudleys will win via some shenanigans to set up a rematch, possibly for SummerSlam where they can throw in the tables match there.

Prediction: The Dudley Boyz

Tacc Brown: Heel Dudleys are the best Dudleys in my book. Not a ticket seller this one and I’m not the biggest Usos fan by a long way but it should be an ok match and the Dudleys and Usos always step it up for the big events. It won’t be a long match. There will be tables. The Dudleys will give the Usos the rub.

Prediction: The Usos

Noah Hugh: This match is apparently on their biggest show of the year, I’m going with The Usos for no reason.

Prediction: The Usos

Richard Harris: I really think WWE missed the ball on not having Usos fight The Dudleyz in a tables match, it would make perfect sense since the Dudleyz storyline wise are done with tables and they’re most known for their use of tables, and The Usos want a chance to beat them at there own game. Especially for WRESTLEMANIA this should be bigger than it is. I guess since The Dudleyz have gotten the upper hand the most in this build, The Usos will get their revenge this time

Prediction: The Usos

WWE United States Championship

Kalisto (c) vs. Ryback

Dylan Osborn: While the build for this match hasn’t been amazing, it has a nice simple story, big guy hates small guy. It also makes sense Ryback would go for Kalisto first after losing to him a few months back leading up to Kalisto’s US title rivalry with Del Rio. This match should go one of two ways: Kalisto wins through out wrestling Ryback, or Ryback crushes Kalisto with ease and wins the title. I see no in between, especially one that benefits Ryback, with this heel turn he needs to go back to crushing small guys and looking damn good while doing it. It was simple and repetitive, but hey, Brock goes around squashing people and it’s fine, so why not Ryback? He’s good at it. I’m going with Ryback beating Kalisto and beating him fast, being back the bad ass squash machine.

Prediction: Ryback

Tacc Brown: Kalisto is excellent at the minute having tightened up his work and eliminated some of the mistakes he was in danger of becoming known for a la Sin Cara. The Ryback on the other hand is still a danger to himself and others. I hope Kalisto gets out of this one unscathed. I saw someone earlier this week on the We Watch Wrestling Facebook page coin the phrase “I hope Kalisto flies all over Ryback like a pommel horse” and as well as being an excellent sentence in its own right, its exactly what I think will happen.

Prediction: Kalisto

Noah Hugh: I think they’re going to have Kalisto win, but I feel like Ryback might actually win.

Prediction: Kalisto

Richard Harris: The build for this has been lazy so my thoughts on it are gonna be the same. For one they barely put any focus on Kalisto as US champion before this feud was randomly put together, and ever since Ryback apparently got fired and Goldberg returned, he’s done nothing but have boring matches with the Wyatts as a face, now all of a sudden he’s a heel who hates smaller wrestlers because WWE’s run out of ideas. I guess Goldberg picks up the win

Prediction: Goldberg ( I refuse to call him Ryback)

The New Day (Big E, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods) vs. The League of Nations (Sheamus, Rusev, Alberto Del Rio and King Barrett)

4-on-3 Handicap Match

Dylan Osborn: Another weirdly built match, yes New Day are over, but I feel they could’ve turned face better. Whilst I love LON they’ve been booked poorly and are basically the new Nexus in that respect, and this match isn’t for the tag titles which is a shame. All 7 men are great in the ring, so this match shouldn’t be awful, but it might be a cluster if too many en get in the ring, plus I’m not sure who would really benefit more from winning. I’m going New Day by default, over coming the numbers game will make them look good I guess, outside of that, this is the first New Day match I’m not looking forward to.

Prediction: The New Day

Tacc Brown: I’m a little confused by this one. It doesn’t appear to be a title match as its 3 on 4 (although I definitely predict New Day will have a surprise fourth) so on the most important show of the year for WWE their tag titles won’t be defended. That to me is insane! Surely they should have found a way of making this a title match otherwise they are in danger of damaging the credibility of the tag titles. That aside this will be messy I suspect. New Day will be funny. Sheamus will be worryingly stiff. Rusev will be excellent as always and the rest will be so-so. It’ ll be fine but don’t expect a five star stunner.

Prediction: League of Nations via DQ

Prediction: The New Day

Richard Harris: Well there’s one positive about this match…..at least WWE turned New Day face, I mean it was pretty much inevitable. Some people say it was a bad idea but I don’t see how, they can still be entertaining and the fans have open permission to cheer for them. Anyone who attacks them gets booed so it made sense for LON to be there opponents because they DESPERATELY need heat. They are failing miserably as a faction. Hell this match has no reason to exist, they’ve already fought on random RAW’s and lost. Guess they take the win this time

Prediction: League of Nations

WWE Intercontinental Championship

Kevin Owens (c) vs. Sami Zayn vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. Zack Ryder vs. Sin Cara vs. The Miz vs. Stardust

Ladder Match

Dylan Osborn: Honestly, this should be a triangle ladder match between Owens, Miz and Sami, everyone else will just be heads in this match. The build has ONLY revolved around those 3 men, and in a way, is a rematch for Sami and Owens from Ladder War back in ROH. I think Sami will win this match, have a feel good WrestleMania moment for him and to finish his road of redemption after injury. The match should still be good border line great if enough nice spots and good wrestling are implemented.

Prediction: Sami Zayn

Tacc Brown: I am a huge Sami Zayn fan. When he appeared to attack Owens on RAW a few weeks ago I got super excited for a Sami V Owens on the grandest stage of them all. This isn’t exactly what I had in mind but at the same time I wouldn’t want it to be rushed. I can genuinely see Zayn and Owens headlining a future WrestleMania one day and I love that idea. Anyway, this should be pretty good, there’s some under-rated talent in this one. Expect the usual spot fest, especially from Zayn, Ziggler and Sin Cara, and the real start of a long running feud between Owens and Zayn. Starting with Sami taking Owens’ title.

Prediction: Sami Zayn

Noah Hugh: WOO WOO WOO!

Prediction: Zack Ryder

Richard Harris: This match has absolutely no reason to exist other than WWE wanting a spotfest. So many questions run around in my mind when I think of this match. Like why don’t they just do Zayn vs Owens at Mania? Why is Zack Ryder in this match? Why is Stardust in it? Why’s Sin Cara in it? If Ziggler lost to HHH on RAW and the stipulation was if he won he’d get a match at Mania why is he STILL getting a match at Mania despite losing to HHH? Again this is just to please the flip and kick ROH audience out there and that’s the only purpose this match has. If I were to make a prediction I’d say Sami Zayn because other than Owens, no one else even comes close to being in contention for an IC title reign

Prediction: Sami Zayn

WWE Divas Championship

Charlotte (c) (with Ric Flair) vs. Becky Lynch vs. Sasha Banks

Triple Threat Match

Dylan Osborn: This is a match that didn’t need a massive intriguing storyline to get fans interested, as soon as it was even hinted that 3 of the 4 horsewomen would be competing for the divas title at Mania, fans were hooked. It’s nice to finally have Sasha in a rivalry that matters, her stuff with B.A.D was getting stale and she wasn’t being The Bo$$. Glad Becky has been given exposure over the last couple of months whilst Charlotte has been killing it in the ring as champion. Her match with Natalya at Roadblock was great and my MOTN for that event. Now correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t most triple threat matches, if not all, no disqualification? If that’s the case I feel we’ll have some interferences from various parties. Of course Ric will get involved and we might even see B.A.D with Lana make an appearance also. But I hope they just let these 3 ladies wrestle because it will be magical and might even top Sasha Bayley if given enough time on the card. I think Becky Lynch will win the title, I’m a big fan of hers, and I feel Sasha’s time should come when Bayley wins the divas title off Becky when she comes up. Be patient IWC, be patient.

Prediction: Becky Lynch

Tacc Brown: I am a huge Sasha Banks mark! She has hit every bar that has been set for her with aplomb and its been a joy to see. Charlotte is a great heel too and Becky Lynch has been a top worker for as long as shes been around. Beckys ability to make the best of a bad situation (who else could make a steampunk gimmick work?) help here too. Triple threat matches can be a bit of a cluster F but I think these are the 3 best female wrestlers on the roster right now and so I think this could be a really great match, as long as they’re given the time to make it so. Another tough call but I think its about time the Boss gets the gold!

Prediction: Sasha Banks

Noah Hugh: We already know that Charlotte’s not winning, so it has to be Sasha or Becky, right? I really want Becky to win since she’s the only one in this match that I like, but Sasha’s probably winning. I’m still picking Becky though.

Prediction: Becky Lynch

Richard Harris: I gotta say the NXT women have come a long way. They went from NXT to a featured match at WWE’s biggest show of the year. Charlotte’s not a terrible heel despite her mic work being cringe worthy at times, Becky Lynch is a believable face and damn good worker, and Sasha Banks IMO is the most charismatic of the three, in terms of the match, not much I can say about the build since all I’ve seen are random matches with interferences from any of the three, sure I’ve seen few promos but that’s it really. WWE still doesn’t care that much about the division. Go figure. Guess my pick is Charlotte

Prediction: Charlotte

AJ Styles vs. Chris Jericho

Dylan Osborn: A build that started off ok, then became awesome as soon as heel Jericho surfaced. I wish Jericho had been heel from the beginning, it would’ve made this match even more enjoyable to look forward to, as it stands, this is a dark horse for MOTN. These two men have shown their great chemistry together, and hopefully can pull out all the stocks on the grandest stage of them all, this will be a great pure wrestling match. I have AJ Styles to win, him getting another win over Jericho will make him look amazing, and will be the first time in a good while where Jericho puts someone over properly when returning.

Prediction: AJ Styles

Tacc Brown: Now this is more like it! I’ve really enjoyed the program between these two. I liked Y2AJ and I loved when they broke up because it meant we were getting a Mania match between the two. It will be interesting to see how Aj reacts to being in front of a Mania crowd. I think it could well be a candidate for match of the night. Also there’s the small issue of the bullet clubs impending arrival hanging over proceedings. Could they arrive at mania to help AJ earn the W over Y2J?

Prediction: AJ Styles

Noah Hugh: I don’t know why this feud is still going, but I’m going with AJ.

Prediction: AJ Styles

Richard Harris: This feud has been getting better as time progresses. This is one of the terribly few feuds on this card that I can say WWE is booking well. Chris Jericho is a heel again which is where he needed to be for a long time, and AJ Styles is doing a good job as a babyface. I think Jericho should pick up a win due to a hook of tights, or a low blow or some cheap heel tactic so they WWE can run the story of “he can’t beat Styles clean” which helps AJ out even more. So I say Jericho wins and the IWC is happy………or they just scream burial like they do for everyone they love

Prediction: Chris Jericho

If Shane wins, he will gain control of Raw and Undertaker will be barred from competing at WrestleMania again

Shane McMahon vs. The Undertaker

Hell In A Cell Match

Dylan Osborn: Wow the build for this match has been a roller coaster, from Shane returning to the crazy stipulations, this is going to be a doozy. I wrote an article a while back questioning if Shane was working alone for this match, although it looks unlikely with only a week left, I still believe Shane has back up ready. If it is to be Shane vs Taker straight up, this will be more of a story telling match with big spots, not a 5 star straight up wrestling match. Now my bold prediction was, Finn Balor is Shane’s guy, and at some point Balor Club will intervene and cost Taker the match. Which by the way, the Taker stipulation doesn’t make it obvious that he’ll win, this may very well be his last Mania, it makes sense. So have Balor Club come in seemingly heel by getting rid of Undertaker… But this won’t be their last appearance of the night in my eyes.

Prediction: Shane McMahon

Tacc Brown: This is a very tough one to call. Usually you would have to say Taker guaranteed but since the streak was broken nothing in this cruel world seems certain. The stip is a bit odd here too. Its not takers career on the line just his right to wrestle at the show of shows and since the streak got broken does it really matter that much really? I think this one is being used to build something bigger. I believe the recent reports about a new brand split may be true and if thats the case, this is where it all starts. I don’t know how but I think Shane O’Mac wins this one…however, I don’t think hes working alone…

Prediction: Shane McMahon

Noah Hugh: Shane winning cleanly would just be dumb, wouldn’t it? I’m going with a Wyatt Family interference which costs Undertaker the match and Wyatt and Taker have a match at SummerSlam, which Bray wins.

Prediction: Shane McMahon

Richard Harris: I have a very bad feeling about this. The situation seems like its leading to a heel Shane McMahon, which on the surface doesn’t sound bad until you put yourself into WWE’s mind. Shane as a heel boss on his own is one thing but I have a feeling he’s gonna turn heel and expand The Authority which I’m 100% against. I say he may turn heel because think about it, WrestleMania 32 is in Taker’s home town of Texas and if he loses this will be his last match, no way Shane would win and end a legend’s career in his hometown and get cheered. They have to have something planned.

Prediction: Shane McMahon

Dean Ambrose vs. Brock Lesnar (with Paul Heyman) No Holds Barred Match

Dylan Osborn: I’m one of a small minority who hasn’t enjoyed the build for this match. Dean has looked so protected it’s ridiculous, he’s been allowed to straight up talk sh*t on Brock Lesnar and has barely suffered for it. He gets attacked and thrown into a limo, but drives back in an ambulance the same night, poor selling. Only at the most recent SmackDown was the booking done right, have Dean need to sneak his attacks in and surprise Brock to get the upper hand, but once Lesnar takes control, he destroys Dean. Now people want to think Dean has the upper hand with this stipulation, forgetting that Brock can use weapons too, and he will, and he will out right Dean in that aspect, no question. The match will be brutal, there will be blood, without a shadow of a doubt. This should be MOTN if I’m honest, Dean gets a stipulation to carry through his weak move set, and Brock just gets to let loose and be a monster. The only way Brock can REALISTICALLY lose, is The Wyatt Family, if Dean wins clean, that’s unacceptable, but I’m sure the IWC wont bat an eye to when an indy darling pulls a super Cena. I have Dean to win this match, only because I think WWE will do the right thing and setup Bray Wyatt vs Brock Lesnar at Summerslam through this match.

Prediction: Dean Ambrose

Tacc Brown: This is going to be a great one! For the first time in a long time I think were going to see some deliberate blood and lots of it. It’ll be brutal. Maybe even hard to watch and I don’t expect it to stay in the arena for long. Ambrose is going to fight until he physically can’t anymore and Brock is definitely going to turn purple. With Heyman’s expert hyping of this one they have to follow through and make this a blood bath slobberknocker of the highest order.

Prediction: Brock Lesnar

Noah Hugh: I’m not sure about this one, Brock is supposed to be unstoppable, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Dean won somehow. I’m going with Dean because I’m really tired of this Suplex City thing.

Prediction: Dean Ambrose

Richard Harris: To me this is the match I think will be the most worth watching. Granted the build up to it hasn’t been perfect with Lesnar only showing up a few times and WWE acting like Ambrose staying home after being put through a car window is too far fetched, but I’m a big fan of both guys in this match and if there was any stipulation I would put these two in, it would be No Holds Barred. I’m an Ambrose fan but if this was just regular one on one he would get destroyed. With there being no rules and WWE supposedly looking to be more edgy this is the perfect match to do it. The unstoppable beast vs the guy who keeps coming back for more no matter how much he gets his ass kicked. To me it’s the perfect set up. This may be an unpopular opinion but I think Ambrose needs to win but just by the skin of his teeth. It’s time for Lesnar to put some more guys over and Ambrose will be in WWE longer than him, let’s be real here.

Prediction: Dean Ambrose

WWE World Heavyweight Championship

Triple H (c) vs. Roman Reigns

Dylan Osborn: Well fans seem to only be crapping on the build because their darling Ambrose isn’t there, not like he has a big money match with their biggest star…. oh wait he does. Honestly the build hasn’t been amazing but it’s had a nice story with some ups and downs and the return of badass Reigns which I hope is here to stay, that lined up with Shane possibly taking over RAW could mean big changes. The match itself will be good, you have two great wrestlers who can work well, say what you will about Roman, the man can go and has been improving since last, having more good straight up singles bouts than Bray or Dean. Triple H proved he still had it against Dean at Roadblock in a good match so he should bring the same here. I’m sure there will be liberties in terms of the rules, it wont be a straight up clean match with the bad blood these two have. Now my crazy prediction comes at the end, remember when I said we hadn’t seen the end of Balor Club? Well just to stick it to The Authority even more, have them help Roman win the title, with Roman siding with them saying he was in talks with Shane for a while, hence his reckless and cocky behavior towards Trips, Steph and Vince. This way when Balor Club become a full on heel stable, we get heel Roman which everyone wants, but he isn’t over exposed to the point where we get tired of him. It’s a very long shot, but that’s my prediction.

Prediction: Roman Reigns

Tacc Brown: The main event then! I have really enjoyed the build to this. The brutal back and forth between the two has made for compelling viewing and to be honest, the fact there was a lot of blood split along the way really helped make the story seem all the more real. Triple H seems every bit the legit badass and Reigns, for the first time since the Shield days, feels like he belongs in the main event picture. This years WrestleMania needs massive main event, Hunter and Roman, I believe, will deliver exactly that. I know this is going against the almost known opinion that this is finally Reigns time and I could well be wrong, for some reason though I think Triple H retains…

Prediction: Triple H

Noah Hugh: The Big Dog is about to pin Triple H in the middle of the ring in front of 85,000 fans and get booed out of the building, as The Rock, Stone Cold, Hulk Hogan, The Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, Daniel Bryan, John Cena, and more celebrate with him (still being booed, of course) to end WrestleMania 32!

Prediction: Roman Reigns

Richard Harris: Here we go. The big match that has the IWC completely behind Triple H. Let’s get something straight first, Roman Reigns is winning. There’s nothing any of you fans can do or say to change WWE’s mind, the sad thing is even when he wins fans will act like it was some big shock despite 99% of them knowing the outcome since Royal Rumble. Let’s address the elephant in the room, to hell with all the hypocrites that scream that HHH buries everyone yet when it comes to a wrestler they don’t like, they want them to be buried. It’s hypocritical, childish, selfish, and all around petty. Ignoring all of that this feud has been booked the worst in terms of big Mania matches. The Authority wanted to screw over Reigns yet they give him a NO 1 CONTENDERS MATCH AT FASTLANE! They have Reigns stay at home for a few weeks not even getting a promo for the time he was gone. And when he returned to beat the hell out of HHH he returned to a silent reaction, shame because I thought that segment wasn’t bad at all. My prediction is exactly what you think it is Roman Reigns wins and the IWC puts all the blame on him for WWE’s stupid decisions. But that’s a subject for another article

Prediction: Roman Reigns
